SEARCH, a non-governmental organization
based in Bangalore, India, was established in 1975. Focus had
been on introducing youth into development.

In the
beginning of eighties SEARCH evolved into a training
institute, focusing on capacity building of the development
staff – from grassroots to middle management to senior
management

SEARCH works
with twin objectives of human resource development in the
NGO sector and mobilizing people around development
issues.

Evaluation, research and
strategic assessments and evolving
perspectives have been its strength.

Policy guidelines to
governments and international bodies have been some of
interventions made by SEARCH.

SEARCH aims to
strengthen and popularize participatory pedagogies and
promotes people's participation in development, de-mystify
dominant concepts and support empowerment of the poor and
women.

Development precepts have
been field tested in its working Dharmapuri on Women’s
empowerment and Economic empowerment of rural poor.

Women’s health especially
with relation to the growing problem of HIV/AIDS has been
another issue identified by SEARCH in its field
program.
During the millennium SEARCH
has emerged as strategic organization with its core
